Oatmeal Pecan Cookies

1 cup shortening
1 cup brown sugar, packed
1 cup sugar
2 eggs
1 tsp. vanilla

1 1/2 cups flour
1 tsp. soda
1 tsp. salt
3 cups oatmeal
1 cup chopped pecans

Cream shortening and sugars. Add eggs and vanilla. Combine flour, baking soda and salt. Gradually add to creamed mixture. Stir in oats and nuts. Chill for 30 minutes. Shape into 1 balls. Bake at 350 for 10-12 minutes in a preheated oven or until golden brown on parchment lined cookie sheet. Cool on wire racks.
