The 66th Florida State
Square & Round Dance Convention
February 21st and 22nd,
2020 in Daytona Beach
Now for the "pop" tabs. Received the following from
Penny Green last week. Shannon Reid is running a special project as part
of the upcoming State Convention - collecting tabs from cans - soda ("pop"),
soup, pet food, etc. for the Ronald McDonald House. It's easy to do.
So let's see how many we can get from the Southeast!
Sally and Steve
2020 Florida State Convention Special Project
This year the Florida State Square and Round Dance Convention
wanted to find a way to give back to the community and benefit those who need it
the most. That is why this year the 66th Convention will be collecting "pop"
tabs and donating them to the Ronald McDonald House in order to help families in
The Ronald McDonald House provides a home away from home for families with
children receiving treatment at hospitals and medical facilities in Orlando.
Before the Ronald McDonald Houses, parents would sleep in their cars or in
chairs in the waiting room, eat out of vending machines, or bear the expense of
impersonal hotel rooms. But thanks to the creation of the Ronald McDonald
Houses, parents can stay close to their ill children and provide them with love
and support during their stay at hospitals.
Raising funds for the Ronald McDonald House is not a simple task, which is why
we need your help! The more pop tabs that we collect, the more money we raise to
benefit the Ronald McDonald Foundation.
Here’s how easy it is to help make a difference in the lives of the families who
turn to the Ronald McDonald House program during a child's medical crisis:
1. Pop off those tabs from
your beverage and soda cans, pet food cans, soup cans, etc.
2. Save them in any container.
3. Bring them with you to the Ocean Center and
drop them in any one of our donation boxes around the center!
4. From there, we will take the tabs to a Ronald
McDonald House to be weighed in exchange for funds.
