Ken & Joanne* Helton
At present, we have a full schedule of Round Dance activities, both classes and dances, at the various levels. We teach year round with the exception of some time off in the summer. We cue for several Square Dance Clubs in the Central Florida area, such as the Orange Blossom Squares, Royal Squares, and Sunshine Promenaders. We also teach a basic Ballroom class and Line Dancing in our community.
Some of our choreography is “Mona Lisa’s Smile” Phase III+ Waltz, “Back in Baby’s Arms” Phase III+ Cha, “My Little Corner of The World” Phase III Rumba, “Jurassic Park Rumba” Phase IV+, and “Let Me Call You Sweetheart” Phase V Waltz.
Ken and I are one of the cuers for the Florida Winter Festival, January 20th – 22nd, 2011. We will also be the cuers for the Shamrock Swing, March 18th & 19th, 2011. We have taught and cued at several Florida State Conventions and other various weekends. Ken was past Vice President of the Florida Rural Callers’ Association. We are current members of the Florida Round Dance Council. Also, current members of Roundalab and presently serve on the committee for the selection of the Round of the Quarter, ICBDA, DRDC, and lifetime members of the IDA.
All of our family, six children, grandchildren, and one great grandson live in Indiana, and we will spend some special time with them this summer.
We are grateful to be a part of promoting Square and Round Dancing, and love to see the dancers enjoying, growing, and participating in this fine activity.
