Larry* & Nancy
Larry started square dancing in 1982 when he was 12 years old in Ohio. He started round dancing in 1986. Larry became a professional Cuer in 1988, in his senior year in High School. He cued for several clubs in Northwest Ohio, Southeast Michigan and Northeast Indiana. He also cued for the Buckeye Square and Round Dance Convention for several years.
At the end of 1992, Larry elected to move to West Palm Beach. Right away, he was asked to cue for clubs in southeast Florida. Little by little, he was cueing for more and more clubs and at times, he would be cueing for several nights in a row. In 1996, Larry started to teach round dancing, and graduated over 20 couples of his first class.
Larry met Nancy 1997 at the Sun Cats Square Dance Club in Stuart. They were married in 1999. Nancy started square dancing in 1978 with Rutgers Promenaders with Betsy Gotta. She has been dancing Ballroom, Belly Dancing, Royal Scottish Dancing, Clogging, Tap, and Contra. Also, she had Larry wear a Kilt at a square dance, and called him ‘The Kilted Cuer’.
Presently, Larry cues at Sailfish Squares and Sun Cats in Stuart and NSDC Chapter 080. He has cued at several state conventions in Florida and Ohio, several state Camporees in Florida, and several National Square Dance Conventions. Larry has been a member of Roundalab, ASCAP and BMI Licensed and Insured, Member of Florida Round Dance Council, and was a former member of Buckeye Round Dance Council. He prefers to use his wireless microphone to dance while cueing.
