Florida Federation of Square Dancers
President's Message

Here we are already in July, the year is half over! Have you and your club completed the things you wanted to accomplish this summer? If not, you need to get busy because the fall dance season will soon be here. Not only do you need to finish your summer activities, but you need to be planning for this fall.

Have you already completed, or at least started, your plans for this fall’s classes. Now is the time to be promoting them and getting prospects lined up to attend. People are busy these days and their calendars fill up fast. You need to get on their calendar before they are full.

Now is also a good time to make your plans to attend the 2018 Florida State Square and Round Dance Convention in Daytona Beach on February 23rd and 24th. We understand that the hotel rooms are filling up fast, but work is in progress to make additional rooms available. You need to get your room reservations made NOW. In case you haven’t heard the Trail-End dance is going to be held on Thursday at the Nova Community Center in Ormond Beach. Be sure to include this dance in your planning.

While you are making plans be sure that you have purchased your ribbons and made hotel reservations for the regional dances. The first dance is the NWFSRDA Roundup in Pensacola on October 27th and 28th. Not long after that the West Coast will hold their Fall Fun Fest in Bartow on November 10th and 11th. And then the following weekend November 17th and 18th the Northeast will hold their Fall Festival in Jacksonville Beach. These are all great dances, with super callers and cuers, so be sure to make your plans to attend all of these.

The 66th National Square Dance Convention has just ended. We are sure those who attended had a great time and danced to some great callers. If you didn’t go this year talk to some of those who attended and see what fun you missed and begin making your plans to attend next year’s convention in Kansas City, Missouri.

It seems that the theme of this message is PLAN, PLAN, PLAN. The only way we are going to be able to keep square dancing alive and going, is to plan and encouraged others to take part in our favorite activity.

Hope to see you in a square soon,

Dennis & Nancy Taylor,

President
