Our Vice-Presidents, Jim and
Laureen Kelly, are responsible for obtaining contracts with campgrounds
during their term. They both have worked very long and hard over the past
months to find new and interesting locations for our members to Hitch n
One such place was visited by us the 5th weekend of
April: Wekiva Falls Resort in Sorrento, FL. What a stellar campground! The
entire area is HUGE, with spacious sites. The hall where we danced and
shared meals was large with plenty of room to spare. The campground staff -
very friendly and accommodating, especially the owner, who made several
stops to see whether we were doing ok or needed anything. Any concerns were
Six couples arrived early on Thursday spending their time
setting up and looking around. All 6 couples went out to dinner to the
Smokehouse, a super fine restaurant in nearby Sanford. All the food was so
delicious and highly recommended to other campers arriving Friday.
By Friday dance time, we had 15 rigs set up with 13
member couples, one guest couple, John and Nancy Smik and one rig housing
our Vice-Presidents daughter, Kim, her 2 children Tyler and Lauren and
Laurens friend Kaitlyn. The Reardons grandson Aaron also was in

Hosts/Hostesses Kellys and Sortores, the Board had their meeting.
The weather was gorgeous throughout the weekend, albeit
somewhat chilly in the early mornings for some of us!
By late Saturday morning when it was time for kite-flying
and hot dog eating, the weather was superb. We had near perfect attendance
for the afore mentioned activities, a myriad of kites flying and plenty of
hot dogs cooked up by Jim Kelly. Thanks to him and the other members who
brought extras. What a wonderful surprise to have Lee and Joyce Whitten stop
by and spend time there with us.
Soon two oclock rolled around and it was time for Ron
Reardons APD workshop where he had us dancing all over the floor! Before we
realized it, the time came for our potluck dinner and General meeting.
All of us were very happy to see our cuer Jan Shankle
arrive, with son Dennis, at the Saturday dance. We gave them a warm welcome
back! The dancing evening was enjoyed by all, resplendent with plenty of
laughter and good memories!
