Hitch 'N' Go  #082
Kissimmee, FL

January 2008

At last count, Hitch-N-Go membership stands at 23 couples. What a thrill we all had when 19 of those couples arrived to spend a splendid 4th weekend of January at Olde Mill Stream in Umatilla. It was a busy time for all of us.

Our first bit of news is we have a new caller! His name is Charlie Pergrossi. We had a grand time meeting and talking with him and also dancing to him! We look forward to many months enjoying his calling. His wife Sarah had another commitment but we look forward to meeting her in February.

Our busy time was Saturday. First thing, we gathered to set up for our white elephant and bake sale and auction.  Our members donated items and or bake goods and they helped to set up. Thanks to everyone for your support. Special thanks to Jim Kelly and Dick Fournier for conducting the auction - they did a fabulous job!

The weekend was hosted by the 2007 officers - they provided the potluck dinner Saturday night. Led by our President, Nancy Fournier, we presented the club with an Italian feast: spaghetti, meatballs, salad, bread and cake (alas, no wine!). The cake was in honor of our Chapter's 33rd Anniversary - thanks to Phil and Deanna Sortore for ordering and picking up the cake, all decorated in edible red, yellow and even black roses, our Chapter colors.

So, after our board meeting at 2 PM we began setting up and preparing the meal. Our thanks to everyone who chipped in with their help setting up tables, chairs, etc. Nancy outdid herself with the decorations she provided, the pre-preparation of the food and then the fantastic Continental breakfast she presented to us on Sunday morning. She's a keeper!

Which brings me to the next news - we installed a new Executive Board Saturday night: President Dick/Nancy Fournier; Vice-President Lee/Joyce Whitten; Secretary Tom/Jeanne Hartwig; Treasurer Dave/Kay Benne. I can truthfully say these Officers enjoy their positions, carrying out their duties - we look forward to a very successful year in 2008.

Jeanne Hartwig,
Secretary
