SQUARE WHEELS (CHAPTER #128)
GYPSY’S (CHAPTER #168)
FEBRUARY 17, 2014
What a wonderful weekend at Casey Jones RV Park for the
Blue-Grey Festival. We had over 20 rigs camping with us. We had
about 8 squares on the floor at Teen Town Center with many more sitting out
to socialize. We had a great crowd from Jacksonville come over for the
weekend. Bill Chesnut was wonderful and Susan Snider did an excellent
job cueing the rounds for the night. The entire floor was covered with
round dancers. She even called Mission Bell Waltz, bet she wished she
Saturday we rounded up about 5 squares for the dance in downtown Lake City.
What fun we had dancing to the cheering crowd. I believe Dixie Dancers
may have some new people to start their next lessons. Bill did his
usual best for everyone & kept us moving for about ½ hour. We shopped
the stores, the venders and had lunch. They said the Chicken and Rice
along with the Apple Dumpling hit the spot. I stuck with the old
fashioned Corn Dog.
The dance on Saturday night was held at the Toyota Dealership with Jack
Lewis, Caller and Ann Hadsall & Ralph Beekman Cueing. We had all the
dignitaries, along with the Mayor of Lake City for the Grand March. We
had at least 12 + squares to start the dance. Dixie Dancers &
Vagabonds did a wonderful job with the Silent Auction.
They also had a lot of donated clothing from Jeff Kleyla of Putnam
Promenaders. The food they provided was delicious along with two
tables of just desserts. You could not go away hungry..
Sunday morning breakfast was an Egg and Hash Brown Casseroles, Fresh Fruit,
Pancakes & Sausage at Casey Jones. Volunteers were Laura & Dennis
Ramsey, Don & Sherry MacGregor, Bill & Mary Chesnut & Paul & Marilyn
Scott. Yes I really did show up & help. But there
were a few faces not seen by me, where were you!!!!
